Latest Track Drawing

When racing around on the XBOX in Forza 4, I find that my favourite track is Mugello, in Italy.  I found a really cool website that makes artwork and track maps for the video game “Grand Prix Legends” called BAPOM and downloaded the artwork and track maps for some tracks that I was considering building – Suzuka in Japan, Mugello in Italy, and Westwood Raceway from my town, Vancouver.

I thought that Mugello, being my favourite Forza track, would be the best use of my available space and provide an interesting racing challenge.  I had a previous design based on Suzuka, but the compound folding table layout was posing some problems.  I have decided on a 16′x4.5′ rectangular layout with Mugello set on top.

The lane design was chosen to more closely emulate that of real road racing by trying to align each lane with the racing lines the crisscross along the track as each car searches for the fasted line around the track.  The drivers will have to mind their manners to get around the track without wrecking.

I think I am still looking at using the AC2CAR set up to run 4 cars on 2 lanes, though I am also going to make the track “modular” with respect to the electronics so that the track can evolve as the digital and wireless technologies evolve.

Mini Racer is up and running… sort of….

Me and the kids picked up a couple of 1/32 slot cars to run on a friends retro Strombecker track from back in the day.  I have also been thinking about building my own routed track for ourselves.  I’m not sure how often I’ll update this, but  i’ll probably review our cars here, minus all the stuff that breaks off while we are blastin’ around the track, as well as chronicling anything else slot car related that we do.

There a video on the sidebar of the track and some cars and there will be some other stuff as I get around to it…
